Southampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are unsure what the future holds for their striker after their club held talks with Real Sociedad regarding his future.
According to Football Espana, Real Sociedad’s president Jokin Aperribay has held talks with Saints about bringing Juanmi back to Spain.
The Spaniard arrived at St Mary’s last summer following a good season with Malaga, but he has failed to carry that momentum into this campaign, after arriving for a fee believed to be around £7 million.
The 22-year-old will be keen to get his career back on track and seems keen to return to his homeland as he looks to rediscover his form.
Aperribay has made it clear that he has held talks with the player and seems hopeful that a deal will be agreed.
“There have been discussions between the club and the player. We’ll see if [these discussions] bear fruit,” the President told AS at his club’s training base.
Our resident Saints fans think this is a transfer move that makes sense, as it is clear that Juanmi is not getting a look in under Ronald Koeman as it stands!
