Southampton poised to complete signing of £5m Cork replacement

Vilhena.jpgSouthampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are preparing themselves for busy transfer deadline day as the Daily Mail reveals that Ronald Koeman is keen to strengthen his squad as he is finalising a £5 million move for Feyenoord ace Tonny Vilhena.

The 20-year-old has been highly-rated in the Eredivisie since making his debut for the Rotterdam giants in 2012 and has become a priority signing for the south coast side.

He is top of the Saints’ wishlist after Jack Cork moved to Swansea City last week and Koeman insists that the club are in need for another midfielder to boost their ranks.

Not only are they in need of a midfielder but they are also looking for that one signing to add some inspiration as they push for a Champions League qualification spot.

Koeman said on Friday: “We are interested in Vilhena because he is not happy at Feyenoord. He is not playing.

“I believe in the player, I believe in his quality, he is a young player and if I can help the player I like to do that.”

The youngster played under Koeman before the manager moved to St Mary’s last summer.

Southampton fans. Are you confident the presence of Koeman at St Mary’s can help seal this deal before the close of the window at 11pm tonight? Let us know your thoughts below.
