Barcelona legend set to sign new Premier League deal, Southampton in dreamland

The Southampton fans are celebrating all around the Transfer Tavern today as reports have come in that Ronald Koeman looks set to sign a new contract at the club.

Reports from the Mirror suggest that the Saints boss is set to sign a new two year contract after changing agents. Koeman’s new agent, Rob Jansen, is reportedly in talks with the Southampton board while the Dutchman is on holiday in Portugal.

The Dutchman was heavily linked with the Everton job and was seen as one of the front runners to take over the Merseyside team, though is thought to have snubbed their offer.

Arsenal were also mooted as a landing spot for the former Barcelona defender, understood to be seen as an ideal replacement for Arsene Wenger someday.

Now, it seems that the 53-year old is ready to commit to the ongoing project on the South Coast by penning a new deal.

It is understood he will bank a significant pay rise of £500,000 taking his annual pay to £2.5 million.

With Europa League football in Southampton’s future again this season, these are exciting times on the South Coast.

Southampton Fans… What does the Future hold for your club now that Koeman may sign an extension? Or would have you carried on without him?
