Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have sympathy for ex-manager Manuel Pellegrini, who’s reign at the club came to an end without much appreciation of his services on the whole. The loss to Real Madrid in the semi final of the Champions League could have easily gone the other way, but Pellegrini ended his time at the club in dampened moods.
However, Sky Sports, citing reports in Spain, have claimed that the former City manager is being targeted for the job of head coach for the Russian national side.
Following the heavy 3-0 defeat to Wales on Monday evening, the Russian Football Association have offered current manager Leonid Slutsky an option to resign.
They finished bottom of Group B at the Euros, with Wales, England and Slovakia instead progressing.
The Chilean is said to be interested, though is yet to make a decision.
He has been linked with the vacancy at Southampton, as the South Coast outfit bid to find a replacement for Ronald Koeman, who joined Everton last week after protracted talks.
Blessing in disguise, Saints fans?
