Southampton fans here in The Football Transfer Tavern are still in recovery from the heartbreak of seeing fan favourite, Graziano Pelle make his move to China. However, our bar staff are hearing reports that may cheer up our punters of a red and white persuasion.
According to reports from Spain via Estadio Deportivo, the new Saints boss, Claude Puel is considering a move to reunite with Monaco striker, Valere Germain.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan with Puel at Nice, scoring 14 goals in 40 appearances, chipping in with six assists along the way.
The former French U21 international is also reportedly a target for Real Betis, but Puel will be keen to bolster his attacking ranks in the wake of Pelle’s departure.
Nathan Redmond and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have already made the move to St Mary’s this summer and as things stand it looks like there is still business to be done by the South Coast side.
Saints fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of this deal? Do you trust that Puel knows the player well enough to make the call? Let us know below…
