‘Death row shows more happiness’ – Southampton fans slate pair on Twitter after weekend draw

The Southampton contingent in the Transfer Tavern have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure on the recent performances of want-away star Virgil Van Dijk and Manchester City target Ryan Bertrand. Although they are two of Southampton’s most prized assets, a glaring lack of commitment from the pair has disgruntled supporters of the south-cost outfit.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s men were slightly fortuitous to come away with a point on Sunday afternoon after they twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 draw in their mid-table clash against Newcastle. The overall performance of the team has been overshadowed by a lack of interest displayed from Van Dijk – whose enthusiasm appears to be diminishing following a summer of intense speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool.

Van Dijk is not alone in facing the wrath of the Southampton fans, as Ryan Bertrand has also been subjected to a substantial level of criticism from his own supporters. The punters in the Tavern say they expect nothing less than 100% commitment from each and every individual on the pitch, and believe both defenders are disrespecting the red and white shirt right now.

With both players expected to be subjected to big-money transfer bids in the January window, it appears their days at the club are numbered.

Here’s what the emotional saints had to say about the defensive pair on twitter…
