Everton and Southampton handed massive boost in battle for 31 goal striker

It will be anything but a quiet night in The Transfer Tavern tonight as fans of both Everton and Southampton are debating where a top striker would be better off continuing his career.

According to The Sun, Islam Slimani has handed in a transfer request to current employers Sporting Lisbon.

The news will give hope to both Everton and Southampton who are both interested in bringing the striker to England this summer.

The 28-year-old had an impressive campaign in front of goal for the Portuguese side last season netting  31 goals for his club in all competitions.

The reason for the Algerian handing in the request is that the club have reportedly received a bid in the region of £16.5m from an as yet unnamed Premier League side.

Following the bid Sporting have tried to arrange a meeting with the striker to discuss a new deal at the club but Slimani has now made his intentions clear that his future lies elsewhere.

Saints and Everton fans, we want to hear from you! Saints fans, would you like to see Slimani red and white? Toffees fans, who will win the race for the striker? Let us know below…
