‘Farewell my old friend’, ‘Talk is cheap’ – Southampton fans react as first-teamer issues rallying call

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes as the Saints fell to a 3-0 defeat away at fellow strugglers, Newcastle.

Southampton fans could be forgiven for fearing the worst at the moment. Mauricio Pellegrino’s side was well beaten on Saturday as they fell to four Premier League games without a win and have only managed one win in their last 17 attempts. This tough run of fixtures couldn’t come at a worse time as the south coast side can’t even seem to buy a win in the final few months of the season. Relegation to the Championship would be inexcusable for the fans as the club has set themselves high standards, finishing in the top eight for the last four Premier League seasons.
