Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been ripping into their club’s vice-chairman and head of football development, Les Reed, after the appointment of Mark Hughes as new Saints manager.
The Saints propping our bar up have made their feelings for Reed clear as they discuss their new manager. Hughes was appointed to replace Argentine, Mauricio Pellegrino, who was sacked earlier this week after last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Newcastle at St. James’ Park. Now the job of keeping the South Coast club in the Premier League falls to Mark Hughes, as he takes the reigns of the club with just eight games remaining while sitting just a point clear of the drop zone.
However, our local Saints are more shocked to see that vice-chairman Les Reed was excluded from the initial interview and announcement of Hughes, prompting the St Mary’s faithful to ask questions of their head of football development. Southampton fans seem to think that Reed didn’t want to see Pellegrino leave and that’s why he’s not played a part in the unveiling of the club’s new gaffer.

….and the biggest question of the day is….. Where is Les Reed? #saintsfc

Excluded? Running scared from any potentially difficult questions is the more likely explanation

Been hiding behind MP & letting him take all the flack this season !……hope we never see him again personally?

Very interesting – I was half expecting to see Reed’s stupid Cheshire Cat grin but we were spared that. Hopefully that’s a sign that Reed is on the way out !!
