Southampton fans will be delighted to see plenty of new faces arriving and departing St. Mary's this summer.

After a dismal 2017/18 campaign where they narrowly avoided relegation, a massive squad overhaul was expected. Mark Hughes has wasted no time in removing deadwood from his squad. Dusan Tadic left for Ajax while club-record signing, Guido Carillo, also departed on loan.

The Welshman has spent quite a bit of money on new recruits thus far, signing Stuart Armstrong from Celtic, Angus Gunn from Manchester City and Mohamed Elyounoussi from Basel. The former Stoke boss needs to continue his revamp if the Saints are to challenge for a European place next year.

An ideal signing that would help them compete is Torino winger – Iago Falque. Valued at £11.7m by Transfermarkt, the Spaniard is no stranger to life in England after signing for Tottenham back in 2012. Falque spent a year on loan at Southampton but his time in England did not go to plan.

After various loans, he was finally sold to Genoa before moving to Torino where he has played the best football of his career. The 28-year-old was a stand-out performer in the Serie A last season, scoring 12 goals and notching eight assists for his team-mates. It’s time Southampton brought him back to England to showcase his talents.

Primarily a right winger, Falque can also play behind the striker or on the left making him a useful option for Hughes to have. Approaching the prime of his career, there is no better time for the Saints to make their move.
