Italy legend touted as shock Koeman replacement at Southampton

Southampton

The Southampton fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that the club have made an approach for a new manager.

The Sun is reporting that the Premier League side have approached former Italian international goalkeeper Walter Zenga to be the man to replace Ronald Koeman as the club’s manager next season.

The move will be a shock for many fans of the club after seeing the likes of Manuel Pellegrini,  Claude Puel and Vitor Pareira all linked since the Dutchman’s departure last week.

The Italian has had a chequered managerial career to date managing 15 clubs since his playing career ended with spells in USA, Italy and most recently Saudi Arabia.

The 56-year old has a good grasp of the English language which he picked up during his spell as both a player and manager with MLS side and New England Revolution and is confident that the job at St Mary’s is his.

Can Southampton replicate their success in replacing Pochettino this time round?
