Southampton will feel the need to spend during the January transfer window, now they’re just above the relegation zone.
It hasn’t been a happy time at St Marys Stadium and unless Ralph Hasenhuttl can orchestrate a quick turnaround, things could go from bad to worse.
In order to help the manager with what he needs, the owners must back him during the transfer window as he eyes the players to solve this crisis the team find themselves in.
Just above the relegation zone and joint 3rd for most goals conceded, it doesn’t take a genius to realise what needs improving in Southampton’s squad and Roma’s Juan Jesus could be the man to do it.
Jesus, (who is valued at £9.9 million on Transfermarkt) is a talented centre-back being starved of game-time out in Italy, hence why Southampton could have the ability to make a move for him.
The 27-year-old has started seven games in Serie A this season all from centre-back. Southampton have been very unnerving defensively and with one of the worst defensive records in the Premier League, work needs to be done if they want to amend that.
At his age, Juan Jesus will either be wanting more time on the pitch or a move away – it’s really quite simple. With Ralph Hasenhuttl adopting a back-five, Juan Jesus could add pace and strength to their back-line, something that is currently missing.
Juan Jesus, who has been capped four times by Brazil, has a good turn of speed, allowing him to recover dangerous situations that may escape him and that alone is a standout attribute for a defender to have.
Southampton badly need reinforcements and Juan Jesus could be their answer at centre-back.
