Southampton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern thought they had heard the last of Ronald Koeman for now after his homage to Judas when leaving to take the vacant Everton job. Well, sorry lads, he’s back and it looks like he may win this battle.
According to reports from Spanish newspaper, Marca (via Sport Witness), both Southampton and Everton are chasing the signature of Anderlecht midfielder, Dennis Praet.
Marca are claiming that the Belgian outfit’s valuation of €10m has put off the Saints which, as our Landlord pointed out, appears strange considering the money they have made from player sales, coupled with the fact that for the Premier League €10m is essentially a free transfer this summer.
However, held off the Saints have which has left the door open for former boss, Ronald Koeman who sent his Assistant Manger, and brother, Erwin to watch the 22-year-old.
With the money that the Toffees are supposedly prepared to throw about ahead of the new season, €10m fee shouldn’t be an issue.
Saints and Everton fans, we want to hear from you! Saints, should the board stump up the money and pay the fee? Everton fans, do you think that Koeman will get one over on his old side? Let us know in the comments below…
