Landing £19.8m-rated speedster would restore excitement to Southampton’s side

Southampton fans in the Tavern are extremely dismayed as they see their team lurking just above the relegation zone with only nine games of the Premier League season remaining.

From a business perspective, the owners of Southampton would have been thrilled to receive £75m for their defender Virgil Van Dijk who finally bagged his long-awaited move to Liverpool. However, despite all the profit made by the South Coast side, the club were persistent in not splashing the cash, instead settling for a striker who scored 5 goals in 22 appearances this season; Guido Carrillo.

One dealing that made Southampton fans generally excited though, was the potential addition of Quincy Promes, who is rated at £19.8m according to Transfermarkt. However, when this fell through on the last day of the January transfer window, Southampton fans were resigned to the fact that their team lacked a potential saviour to avoid this relegation scare.

After reportedly placing a final bid of around £30million, the man who has 15 goals and 8 assists already this season was to stay in Russia with Spartak Moscow. Nevertheless, if the Saints can remain in the Premier League this season then Promes should be a target in the summer once again, as he could guarantee goals and direct pace to create opportunities for his team-mates.

Whether Southampton will beat the drop is another question but Quincy Promes is a quality player that could certainly revive the Saints’ fortunes next season.

Thoughts Southampton fans?
