Southampton have enjoyed a revival since replacing Mark Hughes with Ralph Hasenhuttl at the start of December.

Things were looking bleak for the Saints following a dreadful start to the new campaign under the Welshman. Another relegation battle loomed until the former RB Leipzig coach arrived to revitalise the side. A memorable win over Arsenal set the tone, and their excellent form continued against Huddersfield. Goals from Nathan Redmond, Danny Ings and Martin Obafemi secured a 3-1 victory against the Terriers to register back-to-back wins for the first time since April 2017. Hassenhuttl will be pleased with Obafemi’s impact – becoming the club’s youngest ever goalscorer in the Premier League.

The January transfer window is fast approaching giving the Austrian a perfect chance to tailor the squad to his liking.

One man who should be on his shortlist is Moreirense youngster - Mamadou N'Diaye. Valued at just £675k by Transfermarkt, the Senegalese midfielder rose through the ranks at Braga. After featuring predominately for their second division side, N’Diaye was given a chance to impress on loan in LIGA Nos, and the youngster has taken his opportunity with both hands. He’s been a crucial player for his side, making 12 appearances, helping his side’s cause with two goals.

The 21-year-old is an excellent defensive midfielder who would add some much-needed protection to the Saints back four. N’Diaye loves to get stuck in, averaging a fantastic 2.8 tackles per game in the league. Despite his young age, the midfielder also reads the game expertly, cutting passing lanes to average an impressive 2.5 interceptions per game. The dynamic midfielder is also an aerial threat, winning 2.7 aerial duels on average (WhoScored).

Under Hasenhuttl's tutelage, N’Diaye could become a massive star in the Premier League.
