Manchester United plan to hijack Chelsea’s transfer pursuit

Their good mood has seemingly been extended by the latest news from the Sunday People who claim that United are set to sign Southampton left-back Luke Shaw in a £27 million deal during the summer.

David Moyes is known to be eager to seriously strengthen his squad and Shaw would replace Patrice Evra at left back, with the French defender set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

It could serve as another blow to Chelsea fans sat in the bar after Jose Mourinho had reportedly targeted the 18-year-old as a replacement for Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge.

Today’s reports suggests that United have a deal in place to see the recent England international move to Old Trafford with a contract worth £85,000-a-week.

Shaw, who made his debut for England in the friendly against Denmark, could yet star for Roy Hodgson’s team at this summer’s World Cup.
