Potential marquee January signing should see Southampton axe 1 flopping forward – Agreed?

Saints fans here in the Tavern gain an urge of excitement about the possibility of the signature of Barcelona star. After a rather dull campaign thus far, the punters clad in red and white really are eager for some excitement.

St Mary’s has seen a slightly below average performance from their team so far this season as they struggle to replicate the fine form of previous seasons. Sitting just inside the bottom half of the table, the 11th place side are struggling to find any real consistency and are becoming liable to somewhat of a goal drought.

After an ambitious season last time out finishing just outside the European places this team will be aiming to better that this time out. However, one thing that’s currently holding them back a touch is the fact that only one of the Strikers is firing for the club, with the workload potentially becoming too much for the Italian Manolo Gabbiadini to carry on just his shoulders.

Goalless Irishman Shane Long has just returned from an injury and looks set to feature on Sunday as they look for an added goal scoring outlet. After seeing his nation qualify for the World cup during the international break, the Saints fans will be hoping that this man can bring his high hopes and spirits into his club football as he looks to make a successful return.

A forward who starred for the Saints last time out was the prolific Charlie Austin who has been going through a tough time of late as he manages to only conjure up 69 minutes of football for the club. With the striker looking out of favour and perhaps a possible exit on the horizon, it looks as if a possible replacement may be required.

A recent report has reached the surface about the possible transfer of Barcelona man Paco Alcacer after being linked with a move to the Premier League side. The Spanish international has become very out of favour at the Spanish giants with the likes of Messi and Suarez keeping him out of the side. However, the Saints are looking to snap up the man as they hope to find a natural goal scorer to see if he can reignite the form he showed to force a move to Cataluna in the first place.

So, Southampton fans, which striker can you see Alcacer come in for?
