Southampton will feel the need to invest some more money during the January transfer window, with their team sat in the relegation zone.
Ralph Hasenhuttl was unable to make an instant impact as Southampton manager, with the team falling to their ninth defeat of the season with a 1-0 loss against Cardiff.
The Saints have been shockingly bad at times during this campaign, leading many to believe that their current position could remain like that until the end of the season.
With just one victory in the league so far, it’s clear to see that as well as their defensive problems, they’re also having great trouble scoring goals.
A player who could take that problem away from Southampton is Benfica wide-man Rafa Silva.
Silva, who is valued at £13.5 million on Transfermarkt, is a winger with a good eye for goal who could prove invaluable in their challenge to beat the drop this season.
The 25-year-old has played 19 times for the Portuguese giants this season, scoring eight goals during those appearances.
Rafa Silva is well adjusted to playing anywhere across the frontline and would do a job wherever Ralph Hasenhuttl places him in the starting line-up.
Nathan Redmond and Mohamed Elyounoussi have simply not been good enough this season, with Southampton now realising how badly they need some new attacking talent.
Many players haven’t taken to the Premier League including Mohamed Elyounoussi but Rafa Silva is a completely different kind of player who could take the English game by storm.
Southampton will no doubt hope that any business they do during the January transfer window will be enough to help them steer clear of the relegation zone, a battle that will not be easy.
