Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking for the side to do a whole lot better this season – however, their task could have been made a lot more difficult.
The Saints managed to retain their Premier League status by the skin of their teeth, and manager Mark Hughes will be keen on strengthening the team to make sure they are nowhere near the bottom once again.
However, their survival does not seem to have been enough to keep one of their star men, with reports in Holland suggesting that he could be on his way to play his football back in the Eredivisie.
The Serbia international winger, who is currently participating at this summer’s World Cup, is thought to have committed to a four-year deal and a transfer is expected to be confirmed in the next few days, in news which is sure to frustrate our resident Saints fans given how influential Tadic was in keeping the club in the top-flight last season.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Southampton fans in the Tavern will be disappointed to see Tadic leave the club, as he has been hugely integral during his time at St Mary’s.
The 29-year-old winger has come up with a number of crucial goals and assists, and the locals will be sad to see him return to Holland, with many already turning their attentions towards possible replacements for the Serbian star.
