Southampton fans quite clearly know their team has a lot of work to do this summer, if they’re to become the side they once were in the Premier League.

Under Ralph Hasenhuttl, optimism and good feelings are at the centre of everything and fans know full-well that if he gets the backing this summer, they could be witnessing great things next season.

It will take a hefty budget to make the big changes needed at St. Mary's but it isn't as if the owners are poor.

With the right allowance, Ralph Hasenhuttl can expect to be very busy in the summer, recruiting with the future of the club in mind as well.

One shrewd bit of business the Saints have recently been linked (as per Goal) with making is the capture of Charlton midfielder Joe Aribo, who is available on a free transfer this summer.

Aribo (who is valued at £180k on Transfermarkt) has enjoyed a very successful season with the League One side and could be moving on up because of it.

Despite Charlton being in with a chance of securing promotion into the Championship, the 22-year-old will be leaving in search of a bigger and better challenge next season.

With ten goals and five assists from the centre of midfield, Aribo has really shown what he can do this term and despite being two leagues lower, the Saints should consider the potential for Aribo to get even better under their guidance.

Southampton will see Aribo as another player they could nurture and develop into a fine professional given the success they have had over the years doing exactly that with other young players.
