Southampton fans everywhere are praying that new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has the quality to pull Saints out of this mess and away from relegation.
Whilst in terrible form, Southampton sit in the relegation zone not knowing where their next points are going to come from.
When looking from the outside in at their squad, it’s a team on paper that should be at least a mid-table Premier League side, not the relegation fighters they’re turning into.
The former RB Leipzig manager needs to work quickly in order to get his Southampton team winning again, which could be made a lot easier if they signed some good players in January.
Recruitment has been full of mistakes over the last few years but Udinese’s Rodrigo de Paul is an option that wouldn’t let Southampton down.
De Paul, who is valued at £10.8 million on Transfermarkt, is a solid player that could make a big difference at Southampton.
The 24-year-old has been in good form in-front of goal this season, scoring six goals in 15 Serie A appearances.
This season alone, he has played in five different positions which makes him a very helpful, versatile player. From the wing, to centre-forward, even appearing in central-midfield, Rodrigo de Paul can do it all.
With Southampton in desperate need of more than one player in January, de Paul is a more efficient way of improving on weaknesses throughout their team, because he can play in so many positions.
St Mary’s is a very dull and dreary place to be right now but with a top manager in Ralph Hasenhuttl and potential signings like Rodrigo de Paul, the sun could be shining on the south-coast side sooner rather than later.
