Southampton boss lining up first big transfer move

Southampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening are eagerly awaiting to see who Claude Puel brings in, with a lot of French imports expected.

According to the Mirror, the French tactician is targeting Djibril Sidibe from Lille, and it’s believed Saints are preparing a £12 million bid for the full-back.

Sidibe, who made 42 apperances for the French side last season, is capable of playing at either left back or right back, a trait that would attract most managers.

Puel’s former club as a player, Monaco are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old whilst fellow big spenders Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on signing him.

Saints bought in two right backs last summer in Cedric Soares and Cuco Martina but both endured turbulent seasons under Koeman, and it would appear that Puel would like extra cover for the Portuguese international, who has also been linked with Barcelona.

Southampton fans, we want to hear from you, Do you think the club are in need for another full back, or should Puel trust the likes of Cedric and Martina? Let us know your thoughts below…
