Southampton could be a brilliant permanent home for Tammy Abraham

Southampton are in real trouble this season despite the efforts manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has put into the club since arriving.

It would be weird to say that Southampton have improved under the Austrian manager because they still find themselves in the relegation zone.

Yet many believe that Hasenhuttl has brought something completely different to St Mary’s and he may be able to do enough to lure the Saints out of the drop zone.

With a decent group of players, they still have a number of opportunities to distance themselves with the bottom three although with just 12 games left, they have to change fast. Regardless of whether they stay up or they play Championship football next season, the club simply need to make big squad improvements with a goalscorer being the most important player on their list.

Someone perfect for the role in either division is Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham, who is currently on-loan with Aston Villa.

Abraham, (who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt) has proven once again this season what a sensational goalscorer he is and especially in the Championship.

With 20 goals to his name in 27 Championship appearances, the young Englishman has proven to be a major coup for Villa as they remain in with the slightest chance of pushing for the play-offs because of him.

Southampton though, have found it hard to find the back of the net despite striker Danny Ings scoring seven times in the league.

Danny Ings remains cautious of the past injuries he has picked up so if that continues to be the case, Southampton would gain very good back-up in the form of Tammy Abraham.

With a number of forwards at St Mary’s surely facing uncertain futures, Abraham could commit his long-term future to a club notorious for its development of young English players.
