The Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be eagerly waiting for a new player to come in before the transfer window slams shut. But, right now it seems that somebody looks set to leave the Saints for the Championship.
Southampton striker Sam Gallagher is reportedly leaving the Saints to move to Blackburn Rovers, according to the Daily Mail.
The 6ft 4 striker has already tasted championship football with MK Dons last season. Still, it was a relatively unsuccessful loan spell and returned to Southampton halfway through last season.
With 20 appearances for the South Coast outfit, he has only managed to score 2 goals. One of those being against Norwich in the Premier league 2013/14 season.
The specifics of the deal seem to be unclear as no information is given to Wether it’s a loan or permanent deal.
While Gallagher’s his career has been mediocre so far, it’s easy to forget that he is only 20 years old and he could still develop into a good striker in the future.
What does seem for certain is that he is moving to the North West for at least this season as he attempts to help Rovers climb up the Championship table.
Southampton fans… Would you like to see Gallagher go? Or could he still become a decent English striker in the future?
