Southampton fans are still feeling worse for wear in the Transfer Tavern after spending the weekend drowning their sorrows after a humiliating FA Cup exit at the hands of Arsenal, but have found a new lease of life after hearing the latest reports.
ESPN report Claude Puel is looking to solve Southampton’s defensive woes with the addition of German international Serdar Tasci on-loan from Spartak Moscow until the end of the season, with talks between the two sides at an advanced stage.
The Saints are short of options in central defence following an injury to Virgil Van Dijk and Jose Fonte’s sale to West Ham, leaving Southampton in a race against time to improve their defensive ranks before tomorrow’s deadline.
Puel’s side are now waiting on the green light to fly the defender over from Russia for a medical but time restrictions mean progress has to be made swiftly, due to the long flight times between Russia and the south coast of England.
Fortunately, our landlord believes this deal will go ahead as he expects the player to fly to the club today.
A handful of Saints fans here in the Transfer Tavern aren’t too sure what to make of this particular deal, with all of them admitting they’ve literally never heard of the player!
