Southampton fans have once again been left mesmerised by Sofiane Boufal’s incredible solo goal against West Brom back in 2017 after it won the club’s Goal of the Decade poll.
The Saints won 1-0 on the day thanks to Boufal’s piece of individual brilliance, which was heavily lauded by then-manager Mauricio Pellegrino.
Should Southampton re-sign Adam Lallana
“I think it was one of the most beautiful goals this season,” the 48-year-old was quoted as saying by The Guardian after the game.
Unfortunately for Boufal, though, he has been unable to kick on from that goal and has had quite an underwhelming spell on the south coast overall.
Following his transfer from Lille back in 2016, the 26-year-old has managed to score just four goals in over 70 appearances for Southampton. He has also spent time out on loan at Celta Vigo but has since been brought back into the picture by Ralph Hasenhuttl.
The above takes nothing away from his excellent strike against West Brom, however, with fans unlikely to forget about it anytime soon.
Take a look at what they have been saying below…
Just like Le Tiss’s stunner v Wimbledon, it was the only goal in a truly dreadful match. But an absolute barnstormer, building excitement, skill, colliding defenders and the composed finish. The boy is special 😇

Fantastic goal; I hope does it on Wednesday

Boufal may not have had the best of careers, but he’ll always have this unbelievable goal.
Come on. What else contends with this in terms of pure quality alone?

A very – truly – majestic strike. One more against Spurs, please, Sofiane!
