Southampton: Fans give mixed response to Charlie Austin departure - Southampton

Southampton fans have given a mixed response on Twitter to the announcement that Charlie Austin has departed the club.

It was announced by the club’s website yesterday that Austin has left the club to join West Bromwich Albion in the Championship.

The 30-year-old striker has taken a step down from the Premier League after three-and-a-half seasons at St. Mary’s, in which he made 81 appearances and scored 20 goals.

Indeed, the former QPR marksman does have an impressive goal record in the second tier, scoring 70 goals in 132 Championship games.

In a statement on their website, Southampton wrote: “The club would like to thank Charlie for his efforts and we wish him well for the future.”

There was a mixed response from Southampton fans, with some responding with memes which indicate that they were not bothered by his departures, while others were a bit more sad, thanking him for his goals.
