Southampton set up a fourth round League Cup clash with Leicester City after knocking Everton out of the competition last night on penalties at Goodison Park.
And while it was a strong team performance in the run up to the penalty shootout, manager Mark Hughes will be pleased with the individual display of Nathan Redmond, in particular.
£16.2m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Redmond has struggled for form for some time, but impressed in Southampton’s win on Merseyside in a development that will come as a massive boost to Hughes.
In attack, the Saints boss does not have a massive pool of players to choose them, while the options he does have are not the greatest of goalscorers.
But if Redmond can recapture the form he showed in the earlier stages of his Southampton career under Claude Puel, then the team’s attack will drastically improve.
Have a look at what Southampton supporters are saying on Redmond’s performance below…
Well played Redz @NathanRedmond22 and all the team. Bring on Chelsea and a win at SMS!
