Southampton supporters have been reasonably satisfied in recent times after seeing their side extend their unbeaten Premier League run to three games on Wednesday night.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men went into their encounter with Crystal Palace at St Mary’s off the back of successive league victories over Leicester City and Everton, results which moved them out of the division’s relegation zone. And while the Saints couldn’t make it three wins in a row for the first time this season, they at least preserved their unbeaten run as a late James Ward-Prowse effort cancelled out Wilfried Zaha’s opener to secure a 1-1 draw for Hasenhuttl’s men against the Eagles, although it did see them drop to 16th place in the Premier League table.
Nonetheless, there have been many satisfied Southampton fans up and down the country in recent times, although several have taken to Twitter recently to express their bemusement at the club’s decision to let Jake Hesketh move on loan to MK Dons for the second half of the season (as per the club’s official website).
The young midfielder has come up through the ranks at St Mary’s to make four senior appearances for the South Coast outfit, netting once in their EFL Cup success over Palace back in September 2016.
Yet a likely lack of regular first team football at Southampton saw the 22-year-old shipped out on loan to League One side Burton Albion in the first half of the season, for whom he scored three goals in 23 games to suggest that he was beginning to get to grips with the third tier.
However, the Saints have on Deadline Day officially sanctioned another loan move for Hesketh, this time to fourth tier outfit MK Dons for the remainder of the season – a decision which has certainly raised many eyebrows among plenty of Southampton supporters on Twitter…
Confused by this one. What was the point in recalling Hesketh from Burton in League One, where he was playing well and settled, only to ship him out to League Two a month later?

So stupid to recall from L1 where he was so impressive and then ship him back out to L2?? Makes no sense.

Slightly confused as to why we took Hesketh from a League One side to send him to a League Two side… He was doing well at Burton #SaintsFC

Bit of a weird one. Did really well with Burton in the league above!! Surely someone in league one would have been interested?

Proved himself in League one…so he’s going to League two??

Definitely a strange one
