Southampton’s resurgence in the Premier League continued with a 2-1 win over high-flying Leicester at the King Power Stadium. Indeed, earlier on in the season, Saints fell to an embarrassing 9-0 loss to the Foxes, with both Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez scoring hat-tricks at St. Mary’s.
After sticking by their boss, Ralph Hasenhuttl has obviously managed to turn their form around, after they were languishing in the relegation zone for the whole of November. A major reason for that is the influence of striker Danny Ings but it wasn’t just the former Liverpool man who had fans talking online.
While he’s scored 10 goals in his last 10 league appearances, meaning only Vardy has scored more goals this term than the Saints man, drawing him level with Marcus Rashford and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Still, it was a certain Jack Stephens – who managed to make 1 key pass according to WhoScored – who delighted fans on social media.
That loss to Brendan Rodgers’ side in October was the heaviest by a home side in Premier League history, but they certainly got a measure of revenge at the King Power. Indeed, centre-back Stephens was pictured imitating Perez’s celebration from the reverse fixture, and Saints fans loved the gesture. Here’s how some of them reacted:
