Southampton: Fans slate Jack Stephens’ display after defeat to Wolves - Southampton

Plenty of Southampton fans voiced their displeasure with the performance of centre-back Jack Stephens after their team’s defeat this afternoon.

Some fans felt that the 25-year-old was culpable for Raul Jimenez’s winning goal as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team threw away a 2-0 half-time lead to lose 3-2 at home to Wolves, while the Saints defender was also involved in the penalty that was awarded to the visitors following a VAR review when he and Cedric Soares were adjudged to have fouled Jonny (as per Sky Sports).

Aside from those pivotal moments, Stephens failed to win a tackle or make an interception against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, the first time this season that he hasn’t managed either a successful tackle or interception, while he misplaced nine of his 42 passes at St Mary’s this afternoon. That perhaps led to 90min.com writer Spencer Rance giving the centre-back a lowly five in his player ratings for the game.

These Southampton fans issued a damning verdict on the 25-year-old’s performance after their team’s defeat today:
