Southampton fans here in the Tavern are desperate for their side to secure another season in the Premier League, as they look like facing relegation to the Championship.
The Saints have had a season to forget as they remain on course for relegation to the Championship, with today’s relegation crunch match against West Ham United being of great importance. Indeed, Mark Hughes will do everything he can to ensure Southampton’s safety, and was handed a boost on the injury front prior to kick-off, as according to BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, Steven Davis may return to the squad.
Steve Davis has missed the club’s last five competitive matches due to a hamstring injury, but may return to the squad for today’s season-defining game against West Ham United.
Indeed, the 33-year-old has been one of the standout performers in the current campaign, as he seems to always pop up with a moment of brilliance at crucial times for the Saints. And, news of a possible return will be sure to lift the mood ahead of their important clash, as the midfielder will have a huge part to play if he manages to feature.
Of course, news that Steven Davis could return to the squad tomorrow is huge for the Saints, as his experience will be priceless from here on in until the end of the season. Although, Southampton won’t want to rush him back into action if he’s not quite ready, but many of our local residents are praying that the midfielder makes a return later today.
