Southampton must consider audacious swoop for £10.8m-rated Bayern Munich outcast

The Southampton fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are hoping that the team continues it’s better form under Mark Hughes as they look to build on what was an awful season for them.

It was a rollercoaster season for the Saints but not a fun one as they survived by only three points in the end. Mark Hughes will be determined to succeed with the Saints having also been a part of Stoke’s relegation last season. Whether some of Southampton’s bigger names like Ryan Bertrand will leave the club is a possibility that they have to be prepared for but our punters believe that Bayern Munich’s Juan Bernat is the perfect replacement for the Englishman.

Bernat, who is valued at £10.8 million on Transfermarkt, only featured in 12 appearances for the German champions last season due to a variety of injuries but if he can overcome that dark period in his career, he could be a brilliant addition at St Mary’s Stadium. The Spaniard can play left-back as well as pushing forward to left-midfield and with his dribbling and crossing skills, it’s obvious why he would be such a great addition at the English club.

Southampton, prior to last season’s failure, had been pushing for top 8 in the Premier League and their only way back to those peak performances are to strengthen their side. Yes, Bertrand would be a huge loss to the Saints but replacing him with a younger talent who has title-winning experience wouldn’t be a bad move either.
