Southampton need to avoid another relegation scrap and signing £4.5m-rated ace would help

The Southampton fans gathered around the Transfer Tavern are getting more nervous by the day, due to their lack of transfer activity in and out of the club.

Attacking intent was largely their biggest problem last season as Southampton seriously found it hard to find the back of the net. Big transfers this summer are believed to be the most important in years as Southampton do not want to be in the mess they were last season again. Therefore signing a player who was far from goal-shy last season in the form of Jarrod Bowen, (who is valued at £4.5 million on Transfermarkt) would be a great signing and a signal of intent from the Saints.

Bowen played his football for Hull in the Championship last season and the 21-year-old impressed massively, scoring 14 times in the league. Considering that Charlie Austin, Shane Long and Manolo Gabbiadini scored a total of 14 league goals combined, Jarrod Bowen really did have an impressive season.

Bowen predominately plays on the wing but with the ability to play as a striker or on either side, the Englishman can be a real nightmare for defenders to try and contain. Having been a part of Hull’s struggling season, a team like Southampton could well swoop in for Jarrod Bowen, giving him the chance to show what he can do in the top flight. He still is only 21, meaning his future looks very bright indeed.

Southampton cannot afford to be in another relegation battle so quickly securing the signature of a young, talented Englishman would massively help their cause.
