Southampton reportedly line up move for 28-year-old forward after unhappy spell

Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be concerned with the club’s future in the Premier League after they were heavily beaten by West Ham United last weekend.

The Saints currently sit in the bottom three, two points adrift of Crystal Palace and many of the locals are resigned to their side being relegated to the Championship. Mark Hughes replaced Mauricio Pellegrino last month and has been given the task of trying to keep the club up, however, his odds seem fairly slim at the moment.

According to a report by A Bola, Southampton are interested in bringing Greece international Andreas Samaris from Benfica after the 28-year-old proclaimed his unhappiness in Portugal.

The 28-year-old has only started two league games for the side and wants a move to revive his career so a move to England would certainly be an interesting prospect for the Greek star. Indeed, It is believed a move to Southampton would only happen should they retain their status as a Premier League side, with the likes of Swansea City and Newcastle United all rumoured to be interested in the midfielder.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Southampton locals here in the Tavern will be solely focused on their side staying in the Premier League and will then turn their attention to possible additions. The three-time Primeira Liga champion would be a good signing for the Saints, but if they were to fail to survive, then it would appear that the Greece international would have offers to go elsewhere.

Southampton fans, what do you think of the possible signing of Samaris? Let us know below!
