Southampton have had a much more promising start to their Premier League campaign under Mark Hughes compared to Mauricio Pellegrino last season.
The Saints look a lot sturdier in defence and actually, this year have a real goal threat with the added signing of Danny Ings, a player swiftly returning to his best.
Of course only five games into the Premier League season it is early to judge a team but already it seems Southampton have more about them to avoid a narrow relegation escape, as they did last season.
With some more activity in the January transfer window, Southampton could no doubt return to the European challengers they once were a few seasons ago, especially with the capture of Leeds talisman Samu Saiz.
Saiz, (who is valued at £3.1 million on Transfermarkt) has proven once again early on this season for Leeds that he is playmaker ripe for the Premier League and Southampton should be the club to grab his signature.
The 27-year-old has so far scored a goal and provided a single assist this season but they don’t tell the story of how influential Saiz has been for Leeds, even earning the title “best player in the Championship” because of it.
Southampton are without a creative midfielder this season having let go of Dusan Tadic and whilst adding Stuart Armstrong to their ranks, the former Celtic man hasn’t quite been the answer Saints would have hoped for.
The Spaniard has been the reason behind everything good for Leeds this season and Southampton could be persuasive in offering him Premier League football right now.
Should Southampton turn to Samuel Saiz… Let us know!
