Southampton should take a risk and bring £9m-rated Spanish forward to the club ASAP

The Southampton fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are praying that the owners now realise that they need to spend a lot of money this summer in order for them not repeat another relegation battle.

Saints just survived by the skin of their teeth and given how they had been comfortable in the top 10 and further in the last few seasons, this is also a message to other teams to not get complacent. In order to revamp their side ahead of next season, our punters suggest that Southampton take a punt on bringing Munir El Haddadi, who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt, to the South Coast this summer.

The Barcelona young star has played his football out on-loan to several teams in his career and most recently it was Alaves. The 22-year-old certainly impressed because when making 37 appearances, he scored 14 goals and assisted 7 for his team-mates. Whether he will ever be utilised by Barcelona is unknown but also looking unlikely, so Southampton should test the water with a bid for the Spaniard.

After all, Munir has an abundance of pace, is very good from set-pieces and has a very low centre of gravity, allowing him to manoeuvre in and out of the opposition. Southampton will know themselves that not every player arriving from outside of England will make a positive impact in the Premier League but given the potential Munir has shown over the last few seasons, it shouldn’t be deemed a high risk to bring a player like Munir to the club.

Southampton will look to bolster their attacking options this summer and with the ability to play on either wing and as a main striker, are there many better options available than Munir?
