Southampton still need to sign these 2 to complete their forward line

Southampton flirted with relegation last season. They need to make improvements in their forward line to avoid being dragged into another relegation battle. 

Shane Long just seemed to forget where the goal is last season. The front man limped to two Premier League goals in 30 appearances. After bursting onto the scene last season, Manolo Gabbiadini failed to impress and Charlie Austin didn’t look all that great either.

The South Coast sides lack of goal scoring prowess is a major reason they ended up at the wrong end of the title. Finally, it seemed selling their best talents for many years had cost the club. Mark Hughes came to the club and managed to turn the fortunes around of the Saints. but questions around their strikers remain.

Mark Hughes will be aware he needs to add to the clubs forward line to have a positive season next time out. There is talent at St Mary’s no doubt, with the likes of Ward-Prowse in the squad, but extra quality is needed.
