Southampton target former Liverpool forward

kuyt.jpgSouthampton fans are in high spirits heading into January in the Football Transfer Tavern as they are plotting a bid to sign Liverpool’s former forward.

According to the Daily Star, Ronald Koeman hopes to maintain his side’s high momentum in the latter stages in the season by signing Fenerbahce’s striker Dirk Kuyt.

Punters have highlighted that he would undoubtedly provide phenomenal experience, as he played 285 matches for Liverpool and has also won himself 104 appearances for Holland.

The Dutchman is now 34-years-old but Koeman is confident he still has something to offer to his highflying Saints side.

He proved his flexibility at the World Cup after playing in many different positions under Louis van Gaal, which saw him play as a fullback, winger and also a striker.

So as well as being good back up for the in-from Graziano Pelle he would also be able to do a job in many positions across pitch.

Koeman was keen to sign Kuyt whilst he was in charge of Feyenoord two years ago, but  now  he has a great opportunity again, as he is out of contract at the end of the season.
