Bringing Cedric to Goodison Park this month would be a smart bit of business on Marco Silva’s part.
A necessary upgrade
Everton certainly need a new right-back. Seamus Coleman has been inconsistent this season and looks as though years of persistent and serious injuries have taken their toll on his body. Meanwhile, youngster Jonjoe Kenny is not yet a reliable enough option to take up the first choice role.
Cedric has impressed in his time in the Premier League, having joined the south coast club in 2015. He would certainly offer an upgrade on Coleman and would help the Toffees’ rearguard become a more solid unit generally.
Everton fans should hope that Southampton’s bid for Maehle comes off, as it could open the door for them to seal a deal for Cedric.
