Southampton supporters have been in fine voice in recent times after seeing their side appoint Ralph Hasenhuttl as the club’s new manager following the sacking of Mark Hughes.

The Saints parted company with the ex-Stoke City chief earlier this week after overseeing just one victory in their opening 14 Premier League matches, with his final match proving to be their 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday. And the South Coast outfit have acted quickly to lure former RB Leipzig boss Hasenhuttl to St Mary’s, the man the club’s hierarchy will hope can take the team away from the relegation zone, and back towards the top half of the division.

Thus, there have been many thrilled Saints fans up and down the country in recent times, several of whom are turning their attentions towards who the 51-year-old may seek to sign in the January transfer window.

And with Adam Lallana’s future at Liverpool seemingly uncertain after falling down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp, Hasenhuttl simply must seek to lure the 30-year-old back to St Mary’s, in a move which would go some way to keeping the Saints in the Premier League.

Ultimately, England international Lallana made the move to Anfield back in 2014 after hugely impressing during a lengthy association with Southampton, what with the midfielder coming up through the ranks at St Mary’s to help the club make their way up from League One into the Premier League, before eventually establishing themselves as a top ten team.

Yet the Englishman has endured plenty of ups and downs during his time at Liverpool, starting sluggishly before becoming a vital part of Klopp’s team in their run to fourth place in the 2016/17 campaign, before falling down the pecking order as of now following a series of injury problems.

And with only three Premier League appearances to his name so far this season, it doesn’t look as though the 30-year-old is going to get the game time he craves at Anfield - but he might well do were he to return to Southampton.

The Saints have seriously struggled in the final third in the last 12 months or so and could do with someone like Lallana helping pull the strings in the middle and create goal-scoring opportunities - if he can replicate anything near his past Southampton form, Hasenhuttl would have a huge asset in his squad.

And with the new Saints boss renowned by playing a high pressing game, much like Klopp does at Liverpool, Lallana could be an ideal fit given he excelled doing just that under Klopp at Anfield in years gone by - both on and indeed off the ball, Lallana would improve this Southampton team.

And with his future at Liverpool far from certain, Hasenhuttl must seek to land the £18 million-rated star (as per Transfermarkt) in January - doing so would go some way to keeping Southampton in the top-flight.
