Southampton are walking on a tight-rope and could still face relegation down into the Championship due to their poor form this season. Obviously, things are looking a lot better than they had before, but we're sure you Saints fans reading this will agree, things have to change.

Clearly, happiness has been hard to come by at St Mary's for well over a year now with the team failing to build on their troubled season from last campaign as well. Indeed, although Ralph Hasenhuttl has restored some faith with the crowd, Southampton must work hard for the remaining Premier League games in order to stay in the division once again.

If they manage to escape the drop for the second successive season, plenty of work must be done in the summer to ensure that isn't a possibility again. Frankly, the board need to act after ignoring the major problems so evident for what seems like an eternity now.

With that in mind, finding a new striker should be of the utmost importance for Southampton in their bid to survive and rekindling (reported by Record via HITC in August 2018) their interest in Porto's Vincent Aboubakar would be a very good idea.

Aboubakar, (who is valued at £16.2 million on Transfermarkt) had his season rudely interrupted by injury after he was just six games into his campaign. With four goals in that short stint, the 27-year-old was surely destined to challenge his goalscoring total of 26 last campaign.

The striker is a complete nightmare for defenders to try and play against, with him being so strong and tricky to get the ball from. How nice does that sound, Saints fans? A forward who can do something unpredictable, pulling goals out of nowhere, something not seen on the South Coast for years now.

As lethal in the air as he is on the ground, Aboubakar has all the qualities to be a brilliant source of goals for Southampton. Indeed, for years he has proven to be a clinical goalscorer and the same could be said about him if he arrived in England.

Simply put, Southampton have continuously found goals very hard to come by and so Vincent Aboubakar would be the perfect solution for them.
