Ward-Prowse could have limited game-time now Armstrong has arrived

Southampton are a club repairing after enduring a rocky, horrible last season.

If it wasn’t for Mark Hughes’ late arrival, many would believe that the Saints would have been relegated so thank the saviour and former Southampton player.

Hughes has done his best to ensure another bad season won’t occur this time around, having improved his squad with some strong additions in all positions.

One of those new signings has come in the form of Celtic star Stuart Armstrong, the latest talent from the Hoops to switch Scotland for the South Coast.

The midfielder is a creative midfielder that is set to fill the void of Dusan Tadic and anyone else who threatens to disturb his place in the team.

Armstrong enjoyed a double treble-winning season with Celtic before arriving at St Mary’s as he comes to Southampton with a real winning mentality.

Southampton aren’t quite the league champions in England but before a 17th place finish last season, they were European regulars, always finding themselves around the top eight clubs in the league at least.

A current Southampton player whose position could now be in doubt due to the Scots arrival is James Ward-Prowse.

The dead-ball specialist has never quite reached his full potential with Southampton and he could be barged out of the team now Stuart Armstrong is here. At 23, Ward-Prowse should be thinking about reaching the next level but his form doesn’t quite show that yet.

The Saints have a number of talented players, especially in midfield meaning that some will have to miss out, like Ward-Prowse may have to do.

Is Armstrong a better option to Ward-Prowse… Let us know Saints fans!
