There is fantastic news for Southampton fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Metro report that the club have won the race to sign £15 million rated Pablo Osvaldo.
The club have pulled off a massive coup due to Serie A side Roma wishing to lower their wage bill and allowing one of their top players to leave for the £15 million fee.
After a decent showing in the Premier League last term, the Saints were determined to strengthen their side and netting Osvaldo shows their words, unlike Arsene Wenger’s, were not full of empty promises.
The 27 year old has penned a four year deal with the Premier League side and is yet another example of how strong the league actually is, with the likes of Osvaldo and Ricky Van Wolfswinkle signing for sides who would be pleased to finish mid table.
As one of our punters quips, it will be interesting to see how the player takes to the Premier League, already having a reputation for an explosive temper, typical of an Argentine International after punching teammate Eric Lamela in the face back in 2011.
Clearly Southampton mean business this summer having already broken their transfer record once with the £12.5 million purchase of former Celtic star Victor Wanyama and are now smashing that once again for Osvaldo.
