Southampton fans here in the Tavern are looking to switch their attention to the managerial side of things, as Mauricio Pellegrino’s job comes under scrutiny.
Mauricio Pellegrino has had a hugely disappointing first season in charge of the Saints as they currently occupy the last relegation place, with Southampton’s sixth Premier League season looking like becoming their last as things stand.
And, with immediate changes needed it looks like they’re eyeing up the ideal candidate. As according to reports in The Sun, Southampton want and are ready to replace Mauricio Pellegrino with former Watford boss Marco Silva.
The highly sought after Marco Silva tops the list of managers available to the Saints, after being sacked on Sunday due to only managing to secure one win in 11 games for the Hornets.
But, for Pellegrino, he’ll count himself lucky to even be at the helm, after displaying a worse record than that of Marco Silva’s, as the manager with the worst win record in the Saints’ history.
Although, Mauricio Pellegrino did say:
“I fear for the health of my family, not my job. I enjoy my job, even in difficult moments.”
It does look as if the Argentine is already being pushed out of St Mary’s, with Marco Silva eyed up as the saviour for the club moving forward.
Marco Silva would be an incredible coup for the Saints, a manager who has proven his worth during his early months at Vicarage Road. And, over the years has attracted the attention of many Premier League clubs.
