According to reports in The Sun, Southampton are one of five clubs vying for the signature of highly-rated 15-year-old winger Bruno Davidson.
The teenager is reportedly in high demand after impressing for Edinburgh boys’ side Hutchison Vale, with Celtic and Sunderland both allegedly making offers for the young star.
The Sun report that Davidson spent last week visiting Southampton and has also spent time at Liverpool earlier in the season.
As well as the Saints, both Wolves and Leicester are rumoured to be keeping a close eye on the teenager.
Southampton would perhaps be the best option for the youngster, however, considering their rich history with bedding youth into the first-team.
Over the years, the south coast club have become famous for their magnificent academy system, which has seen the likes of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana and Gareth Bale all pass through it to become regular fixtures for some of the Premier League’s biggest sides (via Transfermarkt).
This season, the likes of Yan Valery, Jack Stephens and James Ward-Prowse continue to be given opportunities in the first-team – all of whom have risen through the ranks at St Mary’s in recent years.
It appears that Davidson looks set to have a promising future in the game.
The 15-year-old is still extremely young, however, so needs to think about which of the rumoured clubs would be best for his development as a player — and there are few better than Southampton when it comes to that.
