The Southampton fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this is evening are discussing reports that the club look set to name a new manager.
The Express is reporting that Southampton set to offer Ronald De Boer the chance to manage the club next season.
The Dutchman is the Premier League sides top target to replace Ronald Koeman who will be moving on to manage Everton and the club have offered him a three year deal worth £3 million a year.
De Boer who had a successful playing career with Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers, left his managerial role at Ajax recently where he led the Dutch side to four titles in six games.
De Boer was linked to the role at Goodison Park, and would be an obvious choice for Southampton especially with his preference to integrate young players into the first team picture.
Our landlord in The Tavern believes that De Boer would be a top appointment for Southampton and feels he would push the club forward without to much disruption to the current style of play.
