The Southampton supporters here in the Transfer Tavern have not exactly endured the best of campaigns supporting their club this term, with the Saints currently stuck right in the middle of the Barclays Premier League table.
It is never easy being a Saints fan and each summer that comes round increases the club’s chances of losing their very best players as bigger clubs circulate around their top talent.
This summer is unlikely to be any different and in a weird way the fact that the Saints are renowned for developing top footballers is something of a downfall as it increases player turnover each season.
The saints will probably be in the market for some more players once again during the summer months and it could be wise for the club to shop in the Championship for some recruits for next season.
A couple of Saints supporters are tucking into their breakfast cobs this morning and they are discussing some talent from the Championship that they would welcome down at St. Mary’s Stadium.
One man who is mentioned frequently is Leeds United striker Chris Wood and the striker who smashed 30 goals in all competitions during the 2016/17 campaign could represent a decent signing for a club like the Saints.
Wood probably wouldn’t break the bank and with the Whites missing out on the Championship play-offs the New Zealander would probably welcome a move to play Premier League football.
Our landlord has seen a lot of second tier games this season and as he sips his coffee he can’t help but sing the praises of Wood, who he believes would score goals in the Premier League should a club be bold in taking a chance this summer.
Southampton supporters, would you welcome Wood to the south coast? Who else would you like to see signed during the summer? Let us know in the comments below!!!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
