Southampton's season has not gotten off to the best of starts, with the Saints already flirting with the idea of a serious relegation battle.

It is of little surprise in one aspect of thinking, with the club continually selling its best players over the last few seasons, a trend which simply cannot continue if the club are to make any sort of improvements on league position year on year.

However, there is the January window just round the corner, and we think the Saints should be looking to bring back one of its former stars to St Mary's in West Brom striker Jay Rodriguez.

The £10.8m-rated forward has got off to a blistering start to the season for high flying West Brom, firing in seven goals already for Darren Moore's men as they sit second in the Championship.

Rodriguez is a proven Premier League player, and didn't leave the Saints on bad terms, leaving a return to the south coast as a possibility.

Rodriguez has already shown that he can cut the mustard in the top flight previously, and being in such a rich vein of form right now, it might well be wise for Southampton to make their move and snap up their former hit-man.

Southampton fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
