Southampton should look along the south-coast and attempt to sign this Bournemouth ace

Southampton desperately need to sign a new striker this summer after netting just 41 times in the Premier League last season.

Only two sides outside the bottom three scored less than Claude Puel’s side and the lack of entertainment subsequently led to the Frenchman’s sacking.

New boss Mauricio Pellegrino has since replaced Puel, but the new man is yet to bring in a new striker to solve his side’s scoring problem.

The Argentine has so far seen one addition welcomed through the St Mary’s gates – defender Jan Bednarek, who was signed from Polish side Lech Poznan.

Bednarek may prove to be the defensive solution, but Southampton should be more concerned over their offensive problem.

AFC Bournemouth’s Josh King enjoyed an outstanding season for the Cherries last-term as his side claimed a top 10 finish in the Premier League.

The Norwegian starred for the south-coast side last term, bagging 16 goals in 31 starts.

Bournemouth have just signed Jermain Defoe, which could ease their willingness to part with King.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham are currently battling Everton to land the striker, but it is Southampton who desperately need him.

Spurs have Harry Kane as their nailed on No 9, while Everton have just signed Spain Under-21 hitman Sandro Ramirez and a certain Wayne Rooney.

Despite the potential daring move across the south-coast, it would make career sense for King who knows Southampton need a centre-forward.

Would you take him if the price is right, Saints fans? Let us know in the comments!
